![]() Observe people in their daily work to understand the context. What I’m telling you is that you need to see your services from the end user’s perspective. Of course, business processes are way more complicated than working with simple text. What I’d like to see in a business application is not far from the simple solution as is seen on PopClip. I’ve also added Google Translate, so that I can understand what a non-English speaker has written in her profile, for instance. I can add more services, like LinkedIn search, or Google Images search. This will make it a lot more convenient for me to get the job done - easier and faster! Simple is ExtensibleĪnother benefit of this simple solution is that it’s extensible. I can change the order of the services it offers, in the order that I love to see. Of course, no application, however sophisticated in terms of leaning user’s behavior, can incorporate my preference 100% of the time. Instead of copying the text and paste it in the browser or an email client, like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail, PopClip does that for me, so that I can jump right in to do what I’d like to do! Simple is Personalized The URL or the email address that I mentioned above is the case in point. The beauty of this simple solution is that it’s aware of the context of what I’m trying to do. Choose an email address, and I get to write an email to that address, for instance. I can add a style, like make the selection into All Caps, or simply copy and paste. I select a URL, it offers the link menu that I can click (or touch) to go to the URL in my browser. Why is this so great? Well, it knows exactly what I want to do with the text that I highlighted. You select some text, and PopClip bar (as shown in the image above) pops up, with the right context menu that you can choose from. It’s designed to offer a quick and easy way to work with text. One of the software applications that I use daily is PopClip by Pilotmoon Software. ![]() Working with iMovies to add subtitles to a video clip that I downloaded from YouTube, using MacX YouTube Downloader, is another added benefit. Create a well-designed document with Pages Work with a spreadsheet using Numbers, and the like. I make do with iWork suite in most cases. Which is not exactly the fault on the side of Apple, obviously! Yes, there are some things I can’t do as well as I do with a Windows PC, like working with Microsoft Office productivity suite, for instance. It’s been almost a year and a half since I started using MacBook Air at work. Simply select some text and PopClip will magically appear, in the same way you would expect on iOS devices.
